Las
Cuevas welcomes organized expeditions and tours, and provides the
only residential facilities available to those wishing to explore
the Chiquibul Rainforest. Visitors to Las Cuevas not only have the
opportunity to stay in one of the world’s last unspoilt
wildernesses, but also the chance to see and learn about the cutting
edge science and forest management that is helping conserve it.

Research Station and Explorers Lodge
Las
Cuevas can offer combinations of facilities to suit all visitors,
ranging from our campsite at the Monkey Tail River to in-lodge
single and double rooms with hot and cold water, good food, laundry
services and bar. Access is by 4 wheel drive vehicles on an
all-season road from San Ignacio some 48 miles away.
For
those interested in natural history, Maya archaeology or simply the
experience of living in a rainforest, the excellent food,
comfortable accommodation and relaxed atmosphere of the Explorers
Lodge at Las Cuevas offers the ideal place to stay in an area of
outstanding biological diversity.

Exploring the Rainforest..........
There is
no shortage of things to do. Apart from the fascinating array of
wildlife and plants on the doorstep, Las Cuevas is near fantastic
rivers for canoe adventures and at the centre of numerous
archaeological sites, including the awe-inspiring ruins of Caracol
as well as an extensive cave system,
providing exciting opportunities to explore underground.
