EXPLORATION

Expeditions & Tours

Las Cuevas welcomes organized expeditions and tours, and provides the only residential facilities available to those wishing to explore the Chiquibul Rainforest. Visitors to Las Cuevas not only have the opportunity to stay in one of the world’s last unspoilt wildernesses, but also the chance to see and learn about the cutting edge science and forest management that is helping conserve it.

Las Cuevas Research Station and Explorers Lodge

Las Cuevas can offer combinations of facilities to suit all visitors, ranging from our campsite at the Monkey Tail River to in-lodge single and double rooms with hot and cold water, good food, laundry services and bar. Access is by 4 wheel drive vehicles on an all-season road from San Ignacio some 48 miles away.

For those interested in natural history, Maya archaeology or simply the experience of living in a rainforest, the excellent food, comfortable accommodation and relaxed atmosphere of the Explorers Lodge at Las Cuevas offers the ideal place to stay in an area of outstanding biological diversity.
