On Nov 5th 2004, The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE), Conservation Management Institute (CMI) and Maya Forest Enterprises Ltd signed a new agreement with the Government of Belize (GOB) for the operational continuation of Las Cuevas Research Station (LCRS) following the withdraw of the Natural History Museum (NHM). Supported with funds from the Klienwort Benson Trust, Greencard Trust, RBGE, CMI and MFE, the new partnership has ensured that the facility has remained operational over the reporting period (Nov 04 - Oct 05) and beyond and continues to provide a base for researchers and students working in the Chiquibul Forest Reserve and National Park (CFRNP) of Belize. Additional letters of agreement have recently also been signed with Acadia University from Canada and the University of BelizeLas Cuevas Research Station and Explorers Lodge in the Rainforest clearing
